The White Jambhala is the manifestation of compassion Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva (Guan Yin Bodhisattva), mainly give blessing with wisdom, virtues and wealth, able to eliminate disease, getting rid of all poverty, disaster or obstacles; promote all charitable deeds , help to increase and benefit with wealth in life, cultivate the cause to benefit the sentient beings. Anyone whom chant this mantra ought to donate frequently, without asking for the return, care for the poor living beings, and wishes will be fulfilled naturally.
Venerable Atisha, being the founder of White Jambhala Dharma (White God of Wealth)
According to legend, Venerable Atisha, during his travel in holy land of Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva met a poor man almost dying of hunger. Atisha wanted to help him but was helpless as he was penniless, out of great compassion he cut his own flesh to offer to the dying man. But the dying man would rather starve to death and not eat the flesh of Atisha. Atisha was very upset for not being able to help the suffering living beings and shed moving tears.
At this time, Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva appeared before him and was moved to tears with the great compassion of Atisha. The tear from left eye turned into Green Tara, while the tear from right transformed into White Jambhala.
Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva then teach and pass on Atisha the practice of White Jambhala Dharma to help all sentient beings relieve from poverty, fulfill the wishes with blessed virtues.

Om padma trodha arya
zambala hri dha ya hum phag
白財神為觀世音菩薩悲心所化現，主司智慧、功德及財富，能祛除疾病，除去一切貧苦、災難障礙，增長一切善業，於生活一切受用富饒增上，亦能種下一個利益眾生的因。念此咒者必須常常布施，不計回報，照顧貧苦大眾，自然如願相應成就。
阿底峽祖師傳承的白財神法門。
相傳是當初阿底峽尊者朝禮觀世音菩薩的聖地時，在途中遇見一個貧病交迫的人飢餓將死，阿底峽想幫助他，無奈自己卻身無分文，於是他升起了大悲心割自己的肉來布施。可是飢者卻寧願自己餓死，也不忍心吃阿底峽的肉。阿底峽對自己無力救助困苦的眾生，感到遺憾悲傷，不禁流下感傷的眼淚。
這時，觀世音菩薩實現，被阿底峽的大悲心有所感動，不禁為阿底峽的發心，流下感動的淚水。 觀世音菩薩左眼淚珠化現為度母，右眼淚珠化現為白財神，觀世音菩薩就把這個白財神財富法教給阿底峽，以圓滿幫助眾生脫離貧困，具足福德的心願。
