Saving and protecting life, life liberation are ways to practice kind deeds directly; as for compassion food offering ritual, is the most excellent true words of wonderful dharma, which save all the invisible suffering living beings in the three evil paths. Saving or protecting life and compassion food offering, are all ways to benefit living beings directly for both the visible and invisible.

There is a "limit" in money contribution no matter how rich we are. But it will be a limitless contribution if we use our "heart" to bless all living beings including the "invisible" living beings from three evil paths (hell, hungry ghost, animal) to relieve from suffering and gain happiness. So 《Nectar Food Offering 》is also a form of limitless compassion contribution or giving which we can practice.
The merit of food offering is tremendous. Compassion heart needs to go through the nurture and practice of buddha teachings in order to develop. Compassion heart can also be cultivated by food offering. We will be able to help many living beings by food offering. Let us all practice food offering ! Please refer to the video for the teaching of 《Nectar Food Offering Ritual 》from Master Haitao. May also refer to (Master Haitao Dharma Reciting book).
Preparation of Food/Rice ~For preparation of Food Offering, may check out the picture below or above for reference.~:
Besides putting 7 pieces of rice into the cup of clean water (not tap water, may use clean water, e.g bottled mineral water or distilled water that was offered to and blessed by Buddha), in addition you may also set aside some rice, porridge (or milk porridge), noodle, a cup of milk (I personally use plant-based milk not cow milk as I do not take cow milk), dish from your own meal.- Please use vegetarian food only.
Burning of Food Incense & Medicine Incense:
May burn food incense (not normal incense but incense made from food), medicine incense (reciting Medicine Buddha Mantra) as sentient beings from evil path eat by smelling the smoke of the food. And for instance the slaughtered animals spirits still have attachment over the pain of their body, so they need the blessing from Medicine Buddha to overcome the pain.

＊Light up oil candle <the offering of light/lamp enable for all living beings including the visible or invisible living beings eliminate the darkness of ignorance, obtain wisdom ...etc We offer the lamps/lights with the wish that their light will illuminate the lower realms (hell realm, ghost realm, animal realm) and the bardo [bardo:the state of the soul between death and rebirth] , assuaging the torment of beings who suffer in darkness.
Also we wish for all living beings be able to see the paradise through the lights and relieve from sufferings.

Inviting [When chanting <inviting mantra>, "Pu Zhao Qing"]
Remember to think and invite all Buddha and Bodhisattva first follow by all suffering living beings in the six realms. ( Deva (God) Realm, Human Realm, Asura Realm, Animal Realm, Ghost Realm, Hell Realm), aborted children or unborn children, slaughtered animals, animals slaughtered for food and being eaten, karmic creditors (own karmic creditors, loved ones' karmic creditors..etc), ancestors (and their karmic creditors etc).. etc.
Thinking
[When chanting <Changing Food Mantra> "Bian Shi Zhou" and offering water]:
First think about offering to all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas for blessing: next think about about offering to all protecting dharma holy beings, hope for everlasting stay of true dharma, barrier-free practice, continue to think offering (giving) to living beings in the six realms. ( Deva (God) Realm, Human Realm, Asura Realm, Animal Realm, Ghost Realm, Hell Realm), aborted children or unborn children, slaughtered animals, animals slaughtered for food and being eaten, karmic creditors (own karmic creditors, loved ones' karmic creditors..etc), ancestors (and their karmic creditors etc).. etc.eliminate the physical and mental sufferings of one another, return to pure land after they satisfy with what they need individually.Remember to think and invite all Buddha and Bodhisattva first follow by all suffering living beings in the six realms. ( Deva (God) Realm, Human Realm, Asura Realm, Animal Realm, Ghost Realm, Hell Realm), aborted children or unborn children, slaughtered animals, animals slaughtered for food and being eaten, karmic creditors (own karmic creditors, loved ones' karmic creditors..etc), ancestors (and their karmic creditors etc).. etc.
Thinking
[When chanting <Changing Food Mantra> "Bian Shi Zhou" and offering water]:
While practicing the ritual (chanting Ong Ah Hong), do concentrate and think of plenty of delicious food, big houses, amenities, money, medicine, clothes, cosmetics, baby milk/stuffs/food (for aborted children)...and so on that are given and beneficial to the living beings including in the six realms ( Deva (God) Realm, Human Realm, Asura Realm, Animal Realm, Ghost Realm, Hell Realm), aborted children or unborn children, slaughtered animals, animals slaughtered for food and being eaten, karmic creditors (own karmic creditors, loved ones' karmic creditors..etc), ancestors (and their karmic creditors etc).. etc.as mentioned above.
* Before or after chanting <Changing Food Mantra, "Bian Shi Zhou">, can add on chanting <Ong Ah Hong> 3 times or more continuously+Six Syllables Mantra [Ong Mani Ped Me Hong], to give additional blessing to the items, become more and limitless.（continue thinking as mentioned above).
Dedications
Dedicate the merit to all living beings in the ten realms (please see above), suffering living beings you can think of in the six realms ( Deva (God) Realm, Human Realm, Asura Realm, Animal Realm, Ghost Realm, Hell Realm) including aborted children, slaughtered animals, animals that are slaughtered for food and being eaten, karmic creditors (spirits whom we may owe a karmic debt), our loved ones (and their karmic creditors etc), ancestors ( and their karmic creditors etc) and so on to be free from sufferings.
*Remember to dedicate merit to own karmic creditors (own karmic creditors, loved ones' karmic creditors), ancestors and loved ones..etc

Completion Mantra
At the end, importantly, remember to recite Completion Mantra (as written in reciting book) for purification: (Ong fajila muqichamu)
For additional blessing, you may chant additional 4 useful Mantra before reciting the 7 buddha name:
* Ākāśagarbha Mantra [Xu kong zang zhou]
* Aksobhya Mantra [bu dong fo xin zhou]
* [Mie er qu wang ru lai zhou]
* Mahā-pratisārah Mantra [ Da sui qiu xin zhou]
Placing the Items
At the end of the ritual, place the cup of rice water or the food on the sheltered ground (*NOT to exceed the height of 2 feet 5 inches as the height of the little ghosts are short, it will be unreachable for them if the items are placed at high level), or under the tree. NOT to place it at 3 kind of trees: Peach Tree, Willow Tree, Pomegranate Tree, as the ghost spirits will not dare to go near these trees. 慈悲點燈 -- 無畏布施

我們如果經過長時間沒東西吃就會很痛苦。所以我們知道飢餓是很痛苦的。這個世界不只是有有形的人和衆生也有很多墮入惡道痛苦的無形衆生。祂們所承受的沒有東西吃和水喝的痛苦是我們沒有辦法想象的。《甘露施食》佈施的對象包括受苦的鬼道衆生，被宰殺的痛苦動物道衆生，冤親債主，墮胎胎兒，所有我們能夠想到的痛苦有情衆生等等。所以讓我們實踐《慈悲甘露施食》幫助所有衆生離苦得樂。
無論我們多富有，金錢的付出或佈施還是《有限》的。但用“心”的佈施回向所有有情衆生包括無形三惡道衆生 (地獄道、鬼道、畜生道）希望祂們離苦得樂，付出是可以是無量無邊，無限制的。所以《慈悲甘露施食》也可以讓我們做無限的大佈施。
施食功德不可思議。慈悲心是需要培養和修持的。施食也可以修持和培養我們的慈悲心做大佈施。請看海濤法師《甘露施食儀軌》影片教學。也可看《海濤法師法會讀誦本-施食前行/甘露施食儀軌》。
準備物品～施食準備方法請看以下/上圖片作參考～
除了7粒米加在水（乾淨的水不可用自來水，如罐裝的礦泉水或蒸餾純水，供養佛菩薩的蒸餾純水）以外也可以再準備米飯、粥（或乳粥）、麵、乳（個人不喝牛奶，所以只用植物奶）或從自己的餐點取出食物。- 請只用素食食品。
點施食香和藥香
若能點施食香（食物做成的香不是一般的香）、薬香（念藥師咒）更圓滿因爲鬼道衆生是以吸食物煙的味道才能吃到東西的。還有例如被屠殺的動物道衆生，靈魂還會執著被殺時身體的痛苦，所以需要藥師佛的加持解除痛苦。
＊點酥油燈《點燈不管對有形或無形衆生都能獲得利益，消除無明黑暗得增长智慧等等。。。》 願我们所供的燈，其光照亮恶道衆生（地獄道、鬼道、畜身道）、中陰身[中陰身：眾生在死亡之後，至於投生之前的中間存在狀態]，平息衆生在黑暗中遭受的煎熬。
也願眾生都透過這盞燈，看到極樂世界，得到超度。

先觀想供養諸佛菩薩，以承受加持：次而觀想供養護法聖眾，以求正法久住，修持無障：繼而觀想供施六道衆生（天道、人間道、阿修羅道、畜生道、餓鬼道、地獄道）墮胎胎兒或應生未生胎兒、宰殺動物、所殺所吃衆生肉、冤親債主（個人冤親債主、親人冤親債主等）、祖先（和祖先的冤親債主等）。。等等解除彼等身心痛苦，滿足一切各取所需而去淨土。
按照以上所說的召請佈施對象，施食的時候（持念《唵 阿 吽》時）加以觀想佈施很多好吃的食物、大房子、日常用品、金錢、藥物、衣服、化妝品，嬰兒牛奶／嬰兒用品／嬰兒食品（佈施給墮胎胎兒）等等 給六道衆生（天道、人間道、阿修羅道、畜生道、餓鬼道、地獄道）墮胎胎兒或應生未生胎兒、宰殺動物、所殺所吃衆生肉、冤親債主（個人冤親債主、親人冤親債主等）、祖先（和祖先的冤親債主等）。。等等利樂所有有情衆生。
*念 《變食真言》前後也可以加念 《 唵 阿 吽 》三遍或更多遍 + 念誦六字大明咒（唵 嘛 呢 叭 咪 吽），讓物品增添加持力，變得更多，無量無邊。(接著以上說的觀想）。
回向
把施食功德回向所有有情十方法界衆生（請看以上講解）, 所有想得到的受苦六道衆生（天道、人間道、阿修羅道、畜生道、餓鬼道、地獄道）包括 墮胎胎兒、宰殺動物、所殺所吃衆生肉、冤親債主（個人冤親債主、親人冤親債主等）、祖先 (祖先的冤親債主等）、親人。。。等等。
*請記得回向個人冤親債主、祖先、自己親人等。

記得施食最後要念《圓滿奉送咒》(在讀誦本有)恢復清靜：
<唵 乏及拉 目訖叉木>阿彌陀佛！
**為增加加持力在念誦七佛如來名號前，可再念誦額外的4個咒語：
（*虛空藏咒、*不動佛心咒、*滅惡趣王如來心咒、*大隨求心咒）
施食物品擺放
施食儀軌的最後把米水或食物擺放在陰暗處的地上（高度不可超過二尺五寸因爲小鬼的身高矮小，太高吃不到）或樹下。有三种樹不能擺放：桃樹、柳樹、石榴樹因爲鬼道衆生不敢靠近。可利用google網站查詢這些樹的圖片作參考。
[焰口] [施食]法會緣起的故事、由來。 讓我們延續佛陀所傳下來的殊勝法門。皆能[自利] 和[利他]，又能行大功德，何樂不爲呢？
《救拔焰口經》云：「受此食已，悉皆飽滿。是諸餓鬼等，悉捨鬼身，生於天上。諸天善神恆來擁護，即為滿足檀（布施）波羅蜜。」

施食儀軌的最後把米水或食物擺放在陰暗處的地上（高度不可超過二尺五寸因爲小鬼的身高矮小，太高吃不到）或樹下。有三种樹不能擺放：桃樹、柳樹、石榴樹因爲鬼道衆生不敢靠近。可利用google網站查詢這些樹的圖片作參考。

《救拔焰口經》云：「受此食已，悉皆飽滿。是諸餓鬼等，悉捨鬼身，生於天上。諸天善神恆來擁護，即為滿足檀（布施）波羅蜜。」
