The origin of Compassion Food Offering 慈悲施食的由來

《施食餓鬼道眾生的由來，也是長壽無病的法門，得強記》: 阿難有一天聽佛陀開示後打坐並思惟佛陀所說的話，聽到前面有聲音­，看到一個嘴巴吐火的鬼，燒了整個臉，好可怕。鬼對阿難說，你再­三天後死了跟我一樣做鬼，吐火。 阿難趕緊找佛陀並告訴看到鬼的經過，佛陀告訴阿難那不是鬼，那是《­觀世音菩薩》大慈大悲，因為你三天後要死亡，特別示現成鬼的樣子給­你看，你就會請示我該怎麼辦？我就會敎你布施鬼道你就可以得到­長壽的法門。................... 阿難照佛陀所說去做，不但三天後未死，而且活到120歲，沒有生­過病..........

[焰口] [施食] 的緣起故事由來。 讓我們延續佛陀所傳下來的殊勝法門。皆能[自利] 和[利他]，又能行大功德，何樂不爲呢？

《救拔焰口經》云：「受此食已，悉皆飽滿。是諸餓鬼等，悉捨鬼身，生於天上。諸天善神恆來擁護，即為滿足檀（布施）波羅蜜。」




《The origin of Compassion Food Offering to the Hungry Ghost Realm- also the dharma to no illness and longevity, obtain excellent good memory》: One day, while Ah Nan is meditating he heard a voice and saw a scary ghost spitting with fire, burning the face. The ghost told Ah Nan that you will be dead after 3 days and will become ghost like me. Ah nan was terrified and told Buddha his experience, Buddha told Ah Nan that is not Ghost but is the compassionate《Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva》who wanted to help him as once he knew he is going be dead after 3 days he will seek for buddha's help . Buddha will then teach Ah Nan the <Food Offering> ritual to the ghost realm and attain the dharma of longevity........... Ah Nan practice the <Food Offering> according to Buddha's teaching and not only he was not dead after 3 days, he live up to 120 years old and was never sick before........
